Good game if you like the single player aspect of things. The character climbs up buildings and other structures as if he were spiderman and has several powers, all having to do with electricity. Absorbing electricity also heals him as well as gives him more energy to use for certain powers. The gameplay is an RPG. You can do what you want, when you want; your actions will be counted as either good or evil and change your karma. There's missions to complete and things to collect around the map. (Blast Shards and Dead Drops) Finding blast shards increases the ammount of energy you have and the dead drops are audio files that tell you more about the background in the story. You can either advance through the story missions and be done with it or you can do some side missions in the middle. Each side mission that you complete will clear out a section of the map of all enemies.

All in all it's a quick game to get through in about a week or less if you're actually playing on a regular basis and it's got a good story to it, but I won't ruin it for you. Wink I'd rent it rather than buy it, due to it's quickness, but y'all know I also get through games rather quickly.

I got through this game in 4 days playing as good. Now I'm going back as evil and taking my time. Playing as the good guy has given me a distinct hate for all the stupid little pedestrians that like to run out in front of you while you're fighting the bad guys... Grr Now I blow them all to hell just for looking at me funny. Especially if I run past one and they say, "Watch it!" ... Yeah... Those PPL are the first to die, even if I have to chase them down to kill them. Twisted Evil

I knew it'd take effort, that's why I did that first. Save the most fun for last. I just push their cars off the road into a pile then throw some bombs on them and watch the fireworks. Muahahaha!

I am glad you are enjoying Infamous. Although I seem to recall you giving me grief about my decision to pre-order and then pick this game up on the day it was released. Infamous is a game that proves that people still will purchase a stellar game with absolutely no multi-player or online gameplay aspect. {100,000+ Copies sold in 1st Week of Release}

Perhaps it is due to when I first began playing games, where due to technological constraints limiting what was possible with graphics, stellar story-telling was what separated a good game from a mediocre one. (In fact Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy had no graphics whatsoever - but what an awesome game!)

Today too many game publishers will sacrifice development of a game's single-player story mode in order to cater to the multi-player centric gamer. Usually meaning that the single-player mode is short and uneven where it is blatantly obvious where the development team focused time and money.

However there are still gamers out there who value a good story combined with awesome graphics and game mechanics. When I name my favorite games of all time, the list would show an obvious bias towards the games that immersed me into the world of that game. Where I felt a connection to the story and its characters.

Well that devolved into a bit of a derailing rant, did it not?

Infamous... I would like to add that I also loved the graphic comic art style used for the cutscenes that really brought the story telling to life. I am itching to further explore my dark side and rain down lightning bolts, like an enraged Zeus, now that I have done my obligitory good guy routine. However that would require someone to let me have my disc back Wink Perhaps since Draco thinks it is only worth a rental, I should be charging him rental fees! Smile

Rental fees? Bah! You can get your game back anytime you ask and I've told you that. But pre-ordering the game to get premium downloadable content that you still haven't even been able to use!? The game cost you a good sixty bucks and you get 2 weeks of playtime before you're completely done with the game for both good and evil sides.

Besides that, you don't like multi-player games unless it's a co-op like Resident Evil 5. So I wouldn't expect you to know/understand the reasons why game developers were pressured into spending more time/money on the multiplayer aspects of games rather than the single. Besides that, there are far more single player games than there are multiplayer. Especially if you start from the original development of games, it's time for multiplayer to take the cake! Razz

Now we're getting off the topic now though.

Edit: I ment to mention it but forgot... You also pre-ordered Ghostbusters the game and were playing that. That's why I have your inFamous game to begin with. But in pre-ordering Ghostbusters you got the Stay-Puff Marshmellow Man squeeze doll and another sixty dollar game that you haven't even figured out how to save! To top it off you have the 40 PSN downloaded games that you haven't even played a quarter of... The ammount that you spend on games vs the time you spend playing them is a bit much.

Despite this continuing to stray far off topic I will just say the following...

I have been around longer than you, and have delved into every facet of gaming available. While you prefer massive multi-player and online play to single player, and I choosing single player in contrast, does not mean I would not know or understand the motivations of game developers.

I understand the modern trends in gaming, as well as the business aspect that will always mold and shape the type of games produced by a large majority of game publishers. However if you wish you dance, I suppose one would need to start an appropriate thread for such a topic.

Infamous is Awesome!

Support PS3 Exclusive Titles!

Ninja Edit:

Hehe I forgot to make it clear I am being playful in this line of banter - upon reading it, one could mistake my words to be angry ones. <3

O.o all this over games...u guys should nt be arguing u shuld embrace each others acts of foolishnes and acknowledge the fact tht ur PS3 is better off in my hands....on tht note i shall go off topic too.....i kinda like both single and multi....but as lady said they tend to conc on multi which is jus sad for most games as they could have had a killer single player storyline

Although my PS3 was free, I have developed quite an attachment for Bri. I even upgraded him from his original factory installed 40G harddrive for a more substanial 500G drive. Plus there are the 40+ PSN titles, and 7 PS1 Originals to think of as well. So I will just keep my PS3 for the time being, plus I do enjoy the friendly banter with Draco.

Thank you Ash for supporting my viewpoint on the Single vs Multiplayer debate. Both do have their place in the world of gaming, but as most gamers dedicate their time to one great multi-player game (The likes of Halo 3 or Call of Duty), for developers to start abandoning single player is a bit foolhardy. As a result many games which sacrificed single player mode for multi-player have very few active players, as after they have won all trophies and achievements, they migrate back to the likes of Halo 3 or Call of Duty.

The 500G drive cost $80, and my PSN titles I get through account sharing. So I pay 1/5 retail price for all of the games that I have downloaded from the PSN. I know I have more games than I have time to play, but my profile clearly states that video games are one of my 3 unhealthy obsessions. Perhaps I am merely overcompensating for a time in which I did not have the money to buy the games I wanted, or where paying rent meant parting with a beloved copy of a game... However it is not a problem as long as I am paying all of my bills and there is still money in the bank Razz

I've heard a lot about Infamous too. If I ever get a PS3 I was planning on getting either Infamous or Prototype.

I was leaning on Prototype more because of the way the powers work. Infamous is electricity and Prototype was manipulated body mass. Also, I haven't actually seen much about Infamous before today.

Now I'm not so sure again -.-"

I've played a lot of single player RPGs but only a few of which gives you the option to be good or evil. Morrowind was fun just going around killing people.

Final Fantasy doesn't let you nuke the citizens.

One of the nice things is that you can change what you want to be in the middle at any time. You're not stuck being good because of your first choice or even you 15th choice. You just play the game how you want to play. Your karma goes to good or evil based on what you're doing. I was playing a bit last night and I'm just on the line of hitting the third and last level of evil. The one labled Infamous!

BTW: There are trophies for getting up to be the most good and the most evil. So you kinda have to play the game through both ways in order to get all the trophies.

Mal said that she spent about 30 mins typing a message about the differance between inFamous and Prototype since she played Prototype the other day, but our computers at work suck ass and the computer got an error loading the web page when she tried to post it and the message was lost. Now she's complaining and says that she isn't going to type it again, so I figured I'd sum it up for her...

inFamous is better.
